Excerpt From My New Script "The Sitter"

EXT. FRONT LAWN - MOMENTS LATER

Melanie is raking leaves, the wind begins to interfere with her process. She is facing in the direction of the house with her back to the street when a delivery truck stops in front of the house. Melanie does not see the delivery man approaching her.

DELIVERY MAN

I wouldn't bother if I were you.

Melanie slightly jumps, not expecting the man, she turns to face the delivery man.

MELANIE

What?

DELIVERY MAN

Raking, on a day like today. The wind is expected to pick up before the storm.

MELANIE

Well then I'll have wet leaves for a week.

Delivery man just stares at Melanie.

MELANIE

Can I help you with something?

DELIVERY MAN

Oh right, I have a package for Daniel Milton.

MELANIE

Daniel Milton?

DELIVERY MAN

Yeah is he home?

Melanie's face is in slight disbelief.

DELIVERY MAN (Cont'd)

If not you could just sign for him.

MELANIE

He hasn't been here in seven years.

DELIVERY MAN

Well, that's odd. Perhaps he sent it to the wrong address.

MELANIE

No one has heard from him.

DELIVERY MAN

In seven years?
